Franconian Circle 1726-N 15 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 461 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$188 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND | Nurnberg, City. 15 Kreuzer 1726, Nürnberg. Für den Fränkischen Kreis. Fast FDC. Feine Patina. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, fifteen kreuzer of 1726, Nurnberg mint, for the Franconian Circle. About uncirculated, Nicely toned.)"
The Franconian Circle was an informal currency union of several states directly north of Bavaria. We believe it included Bamberg, Schwarzenberg, Brandenburg-Bayreuth and Nurnberg, where this was minted. This type was struck also at Schwabach (Brandenburg-Bayreuth).
