This specimen was lot 73711 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Platinum 500 Francs, 1992. Paris Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. This attractive commemorative honoring one of the founding fathers of the European Community renders impressive contrast with the frosted devices and mirrored fields." This NCLT is denominated 500 francs and 70 ecus, a proposed currency unit that later became the euro.

Wikipedia comments, "Jean Omer Marie Gabriel Monnet (French: [ʒɑ̃ mɔnɛ]; 1888-1979) was a French entrepreneur, diplomat, financier, administrator, and political visionary. An influential supporter of European unity, he is considered one of the founding fathers of the European Union."
