The second specimen was lot 20159 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Gold 5 Centimes Piefort, 1961. Paris Mint. NGC PROOF-64 Ultra Cameo. Boldly contrasted with very faint hairlines that limit the assigned grade. From the Naples Bay Collection." It is a common date of a type struck at the Paris mint 1961-64. Struck in large numbers in the early sixties, it was replaced in 1966 with the aluminum bronze Lagriffoul type. As a subdivision of the new franc, it was worth one hundred of the five centimes of the French Third Republic.

Specification: 3.4 g, stainless steel, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: F.124/3, KM 927, (gold) KM-PE337.
