This issue, from the Bordeaux mint, is from a type struck 1871-95 during the Third Republic of France. This date is common in circulated condition. The SCWC notes a "small mintmark" variety but Le Franc only reports a large mintmark for this date. The Bordeaux mint was closed in 1867 but reopened in 1870 after the Germans seized Strasbourg (mintmark "BB").

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, reeded edge.
