This specimen was lot 3528 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Gouvernement, 1870-1871. 5 Francs 1871 K, Bordeaux. Selten. Sehr schön. (France, provisional government, 1870-71, five francs of 1871, Bordeaux mint. Rare, very fine.)"
A complete set of this type comprises 24 date and mintmark combinations. The entire production run, 1871-78, totaled about 73 million pieces. Only two mints struck this type: Paris ("A") and Bordeaux ("K").
Recorded mintage: 74,609 plus 604,313 of the Cérès head type.
Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .7234 troy oz AGW, 37 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, after a design by Augustin Dupré (1748-1833); this specimen 24.86 g.
