The first specimen was lot 401 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $169.40. The catalog description[2] noted, "FRANCE, Deuxième République. 1848-1852. AR 20 Centimes. Paris mint; différents: hand and dog’s head. Jacques-Jean Barre, engraver general. CH.-Louis Dierickx, director. Dated 1851 A. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Close to gem prooflike BU with a bit of nice patina overall. A three year only type." This tiny coin was issued 1849-51 only but must have been extensively saved as high grade specimens of the 1850-A and 1851-A are common.

Recorded mintage: 3,287,213[1].

Specification: 1 g, 0.900 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, reeded edge; this specimen Ø14 mm, 1.00 g, 6h axis.
