The first specimen was lot 74750 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. 1/10 Ecu, 1771-A. Paris Mint. Louis XV. PCGS AU-55. From the Richard August Collection. Ex: Enterprise Collection (Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc. - 6/2004) Lot # 12882." This diminutive coin, called a dixième d'écu à la vieille tête, was the French equivalent of a dime. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the dixième d'écu = 12 sols. The type was struck at Paris 1770-74.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date[2].

Specification: 2.95 g, 0.917 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.
