Sincona sale 46, lot 360

This specimen was lot 360 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$780 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Frankreich, Louis XV. 1715-1774. 2 Louis dor au bandeau 1755, Pau. Schön-sehr schön. Fassungsspuren. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, double louis d'or of the hair ribbon of 1755, Pau mint. Fine-very fine, Traces of mounting.)"

Droulers lists Pau mint issues for 1742-45, 1750-70 with some of the mintages from the sixties being quite substantial.

Reported Mintage: 8,746.

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, 28-29 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers; this specimen 16.25 g.
