This specimen was lot 22149 in Heritage sale 61352 (Dallas, December 2023), where it sold for $810. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1739-(9) XF Details (Rim Filing) NGC, Aix mint." The louis d'or aux lunettes was introduced in 1726 and was struck at all the mints until 1740. The Rennes mint (not Aix, which used a "&" mintmark) struck this type without interruption and many dates are fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 17,617.

Specification: 8.15 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Röettiers.
