France 1592-B ecu d'or
This specimen was lot 2633 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$791 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANKREICH Königreich und Republik, Charles X. 1589-1598. Ecu d'or au soleil 1592 B, Rouen. Vorzüglich. Knapper Schrötling. (kingdom of France, Charles X, 1589-98, gold écu of the sunburst of 1592, Rouen mint. Extremely Fine, Small flan.)"
Charles X was actually the pretender put up by the Catholic League in opposition to Henry IV, who had converted from Protestantism. This Cardinal never ruled France as he was a prisoner of Henry IV. Per Sombart, there are five known of this date.
