This specimen was lot 72732 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 200 Markkaa, 1959-S. Helsinki Mint. NGC MS-65. Displaying commendable luster and impressive details, this Gem yields much charm and appeal to the eyes." This is a scarce date of a common type struck 1956-59. The previous issue of this denomination, in 1926 (KM 29), was in gold. The coinage of Finland was reformed in 1963, with 100 old markka = one new markka.

Recorded mintage: 70,000.

Specification: 8.30 g, 0.500 fine silver, 27.5 mm diameter.
