from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70682

This specimen was lot 70682 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "FINLAND. Penni, 1888. Helsinki Mint. Alexander III of Russia. NGC MS-64 Brown. Offering a delightful mix of red-brown, this vibrant near-Gem certainly dazzles the eye." This type was struck by the Tsarist administration 1881-94.
