This specimen was lot 31046 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $2,520. The catalog description[1] noted, "Falkland Islands: British Colony. Elizabeth II gold Proof "Golden Jubilee - Royal Crown" 50 Pence 2002 PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC. Mintage: 150 (split between the plain and multicolored bunting varieties). The royal crown variety of the Golden Jubilee series and the sole example at NGC, this perfectly struck coin contains spotless surfaces and is seldom seen on the market. From the Paramount Collection." This is one in a series of NCLT's issued in this format, all struck in copper-nickel, silver and gold. Some were issued in plain metal and others were multicolored. Only 3,400 people live in the Falklands so it seems unlikely that this coin circulated there.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common in copper-nickel, 15,000 in silver and 100 in gold.

Specification: KM 80: 28.28 g, copper-nickel, 38.6 mm diameter; KM 80a: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver; KM 80b: 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold, AGW 1.1775 oz.

Catalog reference: copper-nickel: KM 80; silver: KM 80a; gold: KM 80b.2, Fr-30.
