This specimen was lot 39104 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $499.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "ESTONIA. 100 Krooni, 2009. PCGS PROOF-67 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder. 'Song and Dance Festival'. Attractive design as are all of the modern Estonian gold issues. A few faint traces of imperfection on the reverse arch, without a magnification it looks flawless." Estonia, long occupied by Czarist Russia, obtained its independence in the aftermath of World War One. Reoccupied by the Russians in 1940, she was subject to Soviet rule until 1991, when the collapse of the Communists allowed the Estonians to once again reclaim independence.
