This specimen was lot 40352 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 3 Farthings, 1578. London Mint; mm: Greek Cross. Elizabeth I. PCGS AU-58. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust left; rose to right; Reverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee. Deeply toned and well struck, with only a touch of friction to the high-points. A RARE denomination, especially in this near-Mint State preservation. From the Richard August Collection. Ex: Classical Numismatic Auctions XII (9/1990) Lot # 1488." The rose behind the queen's head distinguished this coin from the very similar penny.
