This specimen was lot 52123 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $4,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, ND (1587-89). London Mint; mm: Crescent. Elizabeth I. PCGS AU-58. This alluring Shilling delivers beautiful details that are crisply applied with strong eye appeal throughout. Bright touches of highlighting luster are present, with much charm throughout." This type was part of the sixth issue of 1582-1600 and was the first shilling minted since 1560-61. We don't know why the sixpences were dated but the shillings were not.
