This specimen was lot 52122 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, ND (1582-83). London Mint; mm: Bell. Elizabeth I. NGC AU-55. Sixth issue. A soft silvery-grey example of this large-size denomination of Elizabeth I, a tad weakly struck over the portrait but displaying very little in the way of true wear, with abundant luster remaining in the fields." This type was part of the sixth issue of 1582-1600 and was the first shilling minted since 1560-61. We don't know why the sixpences were dated but the shillings were not.

Specification: 6.02 g, 0.925 fine silver.
