This specimen was lot 6586 in CNG Triton XXVIII (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $183.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "PLANTAGENET. John. 1199-1216. AR Penny. Short Cross type, class VIa1. London mint; Ilger, moneyer. Struck in the name of Henry II, circa 1210-circa 1213. Crowned bust facing, holding scepter / ++ ILGЄR · ON · LVND (D composed of two crescent punches), voided short cross with small crosses in angles. Toned. VF. Unusual reverse variety. From the Sidney W. Harl & Kenneth W. Harl Collection. Ex Davissons 27 (17 September 2008), lot 130."
