Elbing, Danzig and Thorn in the sixteenth century

This specimen was lot 3554 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ELBING: Gustav II Adolphus, 1611-1632, AR 1/24 thaler, [16]28, Swedish Occupation issue, somewhat crude flan, well struck, Choice VF." This type is listed for 1628-32. Elbing lies at the mouth of the Vistula in Poland and was occupied by the Swedes during the Thirty Years War.
