Sincona sale 47, lot 1330

This specimen was lot 1330 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"GERMANY, Eichstätt, Bistum, Joseph von Stubenberg, 1790-1802. 1/2 Taler 1796. Sehr schön. Hübsche Patina. (Bishopric of Eichstatt, Joseph of Stubenberg, 1790-1802. Half thaler of 1796. Very fine, Attractive patina."

The bishopric of Eichstatt, now in Bavaria, occasionally issued coins. This half thaler and its accompanying thaler were minted in Munich and are only scarce as opposed to rare.
