Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 74538

This specimen was lot 74538 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. Ottoman Empire. 20 Para, AH 1277 Year 12 (1871). Misr (Cairo) Mint. Abdul Aziz. PCGS MS-65." This type was years 10 thru 15 and has a very modest catalog value. Many survivors are holed. There was also a copper twenty para (KM 244/KM 246) but its production seems to have ceased in year 10. Forty para made a qirsh.

Specification: 0.65-0.70 g, 0.833 fine silver, 15.5 mm diameter.
