The coin shown is a gold ten qirsh from the reign of Sultan Abdul Aziz. It was struck at the Cairo Mint. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan. Below the toughra is the denomination (qirsh), abbreviated as 'sh', with the number 10 above. The reverse carries the accession date and the text minted in Misr (Misr is Arabic for Egypt). The date is written as AH 1277 year 10, which translates to about 1869 AD. Uslu[2] lists this issue as very rare.

The first coin pictured was lot 74218 in the 2007 June Long Beach, CA World coin Final Session #44001 by Heritage Auctions where it sold for $253. The catalog description noted, "Abdul Aziz gold 10 Kurush 1277/10, MS62 NGC." The second specimen was lot 2367 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$121 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[3] noted,

"OSMANISCHES REICH | ´Abd al-´Azîz, 1277-1293 H./1861-1876 AD, 10 Kurush 1277 H./Jahr 10, Misr (Kairo). Tughra mit Blume über Wertangabe, Regierungsjahr, Münzstättenangabe und Datum des Regierungsanfangs. Vorzüglich. (Turkey, Abdul Aziz, 1861-76, ten qirsh of AH 1277, year 10, Cairo mint. Extremely fine.)"

Specification: 0.855 g, 0.875 fine gold, the second specimen 0.80 g.
