Egypt AH 1049 sultani
This specimen was lot 485 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $352.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Ibrahim, 1640-1648, AV sultani, Misr, AH(10)49, cut down from about 3.4 g to a much lighter standard of undetermined origin, VF, RR, ex Hazerfans Collection." The second specimen was lot 983 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$416 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"OSMANISCHES REICH / TÜRKEI Ibrâhîm ibn Ahmad, 1049-1058 AH (1640-1648), Sultani 1049 AH (1639/1640), Misr Mint. Sehr schön, Very Fine."
Ibrahim succeeded his brother Murad IV in 1640. He is alleged to have been mentally disturbed but his timidity came from years of fearing instant death at the hands of Murad. He was deposed and executed when a war with Venice went badly for Turkey. This is listed in the SCWC as an altin.
