This specimen was lot 484 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Murad IV, 1623-1640, AV sultani, Misr, AH(10)32, some weakness around the rim, EF, ex Hazerfans Collection." Murad IV ascended the throne at the age of eleven and ruled until his death at the age of 27. He had ten sons by various concubines, all of whom predeceased him. His armies beat off a Persian invasion and the resulting peace treaty set the Turkish-Persian border where it is today.
