The coin shown is a fifty centimes Suez Canal Token, issued by Borel Lavalley et Cie. These tokens were issued during the construction of the Suez Canal for use as money by company employees. Construction of the canal began in 1859 and completed in 1869. Obverse features a ship, presmably passing through the future canal, and the issuer and denomination on the reverse. All script in French.
This token was lot 10354 at the March 2011 Baltimore Auction by Stacks Bowers Galleries and sold for $230. The catalog description[1] reads: "EGYPT. 50 Centimes. Suez Canal Token, 1865. Issued by Borel Lavalley et cie. One small edge nick. VERY FINE."
