Künker sale 400, lot 413

This specimen was lot 413 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €7,500 (about US$9,730 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE ÖSTERREICHISCHEN STANDESHERREN, EGGENBERG, FURSTENTUM, Johann Anton, 1634-1649. Reichstaler 1644, Krummau. RR Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, sehr schön. (Austrian states, principality of Eggenberg, John Anthony, 1634-49, thaler of 1644, Krummau mint. Very rare, attractive example with fine patina, very fine.)"

The prince also had struck double, triple and quadruple thalers in 1644 along with another single thaler (Dav-3387) with a different hairstyle and obverse legend. This type was struck again in 1649.
