This specimen was lot 1725 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,171 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Eggenberg, Herzogtum, Johann Anton, 1634-1649. Taler 1645, Waldstein (Steiermark). Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Leicht unregelmässige Patina. (Austrian states, duchy of Eggenberg, John Anton, 1634-49, thaler of 1645, Waldstein mint. Very rare, Good very fine, Slightly irregular patina.)"
This coin was minted in 1645 for the obscure Austrian family of Eggenberg. This type is rare, like all the issues from this locale.
