This specimen was struck in Berlin for the communist regime of East Germany 1971, 1979-90. It was made in moderate numbers but collector demand for it is scanty, so the price is low. This date is outnumbered by the commemoratives KM 37 (Meissen) and KM 79 (Tilman Riemenschneider).
Recorded mintage: 30,000 + 2,500 proofs, a scarce date.
Specification: 9.7 g, copper-nickel, 29 mm diameter, lettered edge.
Catalog reference: KM 29.
