East Germany 1980-A 20 pfennig

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This specimen was struck in Berlin for the communist regime of East Germany 1969-90. It was made in moderate numbers but collector demand for it is scanty, so the price is low. This is the only small denomination not struck in aluminum.

Recorded mintage: 2,190,000 + proofs.

Specification: 5.4 g, brass, 22.3 mm diameter.
