This specimen was lot 35407 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. 25 Centavos, 1951. Philadelphia Mint. PCGS MS-64." The specimen shown is from a type struck for the Dominican Republic in 1937-61, during the regime of Rafael Trujillo, among the more brutal of Latin America's long roll of bloodthirsty dictators. Soon after his assassination in 1961, the capital, which he had renamed Ciudad Trujillo, reverted to its former name, Santo Domingo. Copper-nickel coins using this design were issued 1967, 1972 and 1974.
