This specimen was lot 76052 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Portuguese India. Diu. 20 Bazarucos, 1799. Maria I. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. Ex: Pittman Collection." This type was struck 1799-1801 and is very crude. One rupia was 750 bazarucos. Three, five and ten bazarucos also exist. Numista lists the composition as nickel-brass, which seems improbable, as nickel was still a laboratory curiosity in 1799.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: tin, 14-16.5 g.
Catalog reference: KM-47; Gomes-07.01.
