This specimen was lot 2353 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "DIU: Joao, regent, 1799-1816, Tin 20 bazarucos, 1800, very heavy for this type, VF, ex Stephen Album Price List #276, from an old French collection during the 1920s and earlier." This type is listed for 1799-1801 along with three, five and ten bazarucos, all struck in tin. One rupia was 750 bazarucos. Numista lists the composition as nickel-brass, which seems improbable, as nickel was still a laboratory curiosity in 1800.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 18.9 g, tin, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 22.62 g.
Catalog reference: KM-47.
