This specimen was lot 880 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $420. The catalog description[1] noted, "DEWAS SENIOR BRANCH: Krishnaji Rao, 1860-1899, AE 1/12 anna, 1888, regal issue with bust of Empress Victoria, a wonderful mint state example! PCGS graded MS64 RB." Dewas, now in Madya Pradesh in modern India, was a princely state divided into two parts, the junior branch ruling the northern part and the senior branch the southern. The SCWC notes twelfth and quarter annas were struck for both branches in 1888.
Recorded mintage: 112,000 plus proofs (includes twelfth annas struck for Dewas, junior branch).
