CNG Lissner sale, lot 219

This specimen was lot 219 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $302.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. Christian X. 1912-1947. ZN 25 Øre. København (Copenhagen) mint. Niels Peter Nielsen mintmaster. Knud Gunnar Jensen, engraver. Dated 1943 N GJ. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Deeply toned uncirculated. Only example ever graded." This type was issued for Denmark by the Nazis 1941-45. Like most zinc coins, it is very common in low grade but rare choice. The denomination was restored to its prewar copper-nickel composition in 1946 and struck until 1988. In 1990, it was converted to bronze.
