Denmark 1943-N GJ 10 ore
This specimen was lot 216 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $193.60. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Christian X. 1912-1947. ZN 10 Øre. German occupation issue. København (Copenhagen) mint. Niels Peter Nielsen, mintmaster. Knud Gunnar Jensen, engraver. Dated 1943 N GJ. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Deeply toned UNC. Only specimen ever graded. German occupation issues are rarely seen in this high grade." This type was issued for Denmark by the Nazis 1941-45. Like most zinc coins, it is very common in low grade but rare choice. The denomination was restored to its prewar copper-nickel composition in 1946 and struck until 1988.
