Denmark 1903-VBP 10 ore
The first specimen was lot 392 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, October 2010), where it sold for $143.75. The catalog description[1] noted,
"DENMARK. Christian IX, 1863-1906. 10 øre, 1903. Obv. Bare head r. Rev. Wheat and dolphin flank '10.' Subtle frosting accents the needle-sharp impression of the dies. Proofs are known of the decimal coinage of this historic reign but they only dreamt of by most numismatists thanks to their remarkable rarity. Gem Brilliant Proof."
The third specimen was part of lot 45318 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), which sold for $170.80. The catalog description[2] noted, "DENMARK. Trio of 10 & 25 Ore (3 Pieces), 1904-12. Copenhagen Mint. All PCGS Certified. 1) 25 Ore, 1904. Christian IX. PCGS MS-64. KM-796.2. 2) 10 Ore, 1903. Christian IX. PCGS MS-65. 3) 10 Ore, 1912. Frederik VIII. PCGS MS-66. KM-807." This type was struck 1874-75, 1882-91 with initials CS (KM 795.1) and 1894, 1897-99, 1903-05 with initials VBP (shown here). This coin was struck to the same standard as the Swedish 10 öre.
