This specimen was lot 2438 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK: Christian VIII, 1839-1848, AR speciedaler, Copenhagen, 1848, initials HC/VS, traces of luster, reverse rim cuds, VF-XF." This type was struck 1846-48 and is rather scarce. The death commemorative of 1848 (Dav-75) appears quite a bit more often, suggesting that it was saved.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 28.89 g, 0.875 fine silver, 38.3 mm diameter, reeded edge.
