This specimen was lot 45310 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $366. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 12 Skilling Rigsbanktegn, 1813. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik VI. NGC MS-65 Brown." Frederik VI sided with Napoleon during the Napoleonic War and suffered blockage, bombardment and the loss of the navy as a result. Unable to support the cost of the war, the government declared bankruptcy and repudiated its banknotes in 1813. This token was accompanied by a six skilling token (KM Tn1). A similar twelve skilling token was struck for Norway (KM 283). Additional two, three and four skilling tokens were issued in 1815. Twelve skilling made one eighth of a specie daler. The coinage was reformed in 1813, 1854 and 1875. Frederik's refusal to abandon his alliance with Napoleon cost him the kingdom of Norway in 1814.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.

Specification: 10 g, copper, 27 mm diameter, security edge.

Catalog reference: KM-Tn2; Hede-19; Sieg-13; Schou-4.
