Denmark 1702 8 skilling
This specimen was lot 4953 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €420 (about US$550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DÄNEMARK, KÖNIGREICH. Frederik IV. 1699-1730. 8 Skilling 1702, Kopenhagen. Vorzüglich +. (kingdom of Denmark, Frederick IV, 1699-1730, eight skilling of 1702, Copenhagen mint. Extremely fine or better.)"
This type was struck 1700-05 at Copenhagen. A similar eight skilling (KM 1) was struck in Gluckstadt 1702-04 with a flower mintmark. Eight skilling was 1/8 krone or 1/12 speciedaler. It is common in worn condition. The initials "DMA" are not a mintmark but an abbreviation of the royal motto, "DOMINUS MIHI ADIUTOR".
