Denmark 1608 4 skilling KM-41
This specimen was lot 10092 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €312 (about US$325). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 4 Skilling, 1608. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF-45. Alluring iridescent toning. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck at Helsingør 1608-09 and was worth 1/24 speciedaler. Another four skilling (KM 30) was struck at the Copenhagen mint. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
