This specimen was lot 10076 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €360 (about US$375). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1594. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC AU-53. Detailed strike of this interesting (Rex Electus) type made before the kings coronation. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1594-96 and was worth 1/48 of a speciedaler. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
