This specimen was lot 10059 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €240 (about US$250). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Penning, 1546. Christian III. NGC AU-55. With a low silver fineness of just .125 this coin has the appearance of being a copper coin. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." At this time one gulden was 48 skilling or 144 hvide or 576 penning. Altho this type was likely struck throughout the 1540's and 1550's, this is the only one with a date. The specie daler would not appear until later.
