Künker sale 439, lot 2518

This specimen was lot 2518 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,577 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN, KÖNIGLICH DÄNISCHER ANTEIL Christian V., 1670-1699. Dukat 1672, Glückstadt. Münzmeister Johann Woltereck. Gekröntes und geharnischtes Brustbild mit Elefantenorden r.//Drei gekrönte Monogramme ins Dreieck gestellt. Fr-134; Hede 115 A (RR). GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Leicht gewellt, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Münzen und Medaillen aus adeligem Privatbesitz. (duchy of Schleswig-Holstein, royal Danish line, Christian V, 1670-99, ducat of 1672, Gluckstadt mint. Obverse: crowned and armored bust right with Order of the Elephant; reverse: three crowned monograms posed in a triangle. Extremely rare, slightly wavy, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1672-76 for Christian V as duke of Holstein. All are rare.
