This specimen was part of lot 22447 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, "Danish Colony Four Coin Lot, 12 Skilling 1740, 1764, 1767, 24 Skilling 1767. Average grades are F-VF. All four coins have sailing ship motifs, and all four are tough to find." This type was dated 1767 only but the quantity available suggests that it was struck with a frozen date for some years thereafter.

Recorded mintage: 75,000 from Altona (shown here), 12,000 from Copenhagen.

Specification: 6.49 g, 0.500 fine silver, .104 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 10.
