This specimen was lot 54065 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 24 Skilling, 1767-HSK. Copenhagen Mint. Christian VII. NGC AU-58. An impressive minor, this near-Mint example stands as the only example of the date seen in the NGC census. An amber-gray tone dominates, with some alluring olive sprinkled throughout as well." This is the only date of the type and the only coin struck in Denmark in 1767. At the time, the monetary system was 12 penning = 1 skilling, 16 skilling = one mark, 4 mark = one krone, 6 mark = one daler specie, 2 daler specie = one ducat. This coin was theoretically one fourth of a speciedaler but is a little light on silver. This denomination was struck until 1783. Norway was a part of Denmark until 1814.
