Cyprus 1944 piastre

This specimen was lot 74732 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description^[1] noted, "CYPRUS. Piastre, 1944. London Mint. George VI. PCGS MS-64 Brown." This type was struck 1942-46 and this is a common date. It superseded a copper-nickel piastre struck in 1938 (KM 23). Nine piastres made a shilling until 1955.
