This specimen was lot 20361 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $1,980. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS. 3 Piastres, 1901. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. Very difficult to locate in this high grade, only one example graded finer at PCGS. Highly attractive displaying a bold portrait, lovely toning and flashy luster. From the Estate of Ray H Corvin." This type was accompanied by 4½, six, nine and 18 piastres, all scarce. The three piastres was struck to the module of a British groat. The British left the island in 1960.
