This specimen was lot 6710 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "CYPRUS. Piastre, 1885. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS AU-55. Only lightly handed and with stunning chocolate brown surfaces, this colonial piece certainly should catch the eye of the discerning buyer." This type, one-ninth of a shilling, was struck in small numbers 1879-1900 with the late subtype dating 1881-1900. It is not rare in low grade.
Recorded mintage: 54,000 plus proofs, a better date.
