This specimen was lot 23702 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Piastre 1881, AU50 PCGS, glossy brown surfaces, scarce low mintage date." This type, one-ninth of a shilling, was struck in small numbers 1879-1900 with the early subtype dating 1879-81. It is not rare in low grade.

Recorded mintage: 36,000.
