Curacao 2-5 gulden rev DSLR.jpg

The coinage of Curaçao (pronounced "Curassow") extends only 1942-48. It was initiated after the occupation of the Netherlands by the Nazis in 1940. United States troops occupied the island to protect the vital oil refineries there, and the United States mint struck coins for circulation there, using Dutch homeland types. This issue is from the Denver mint and is very common. The coinage was merged with that of the Netherlands Antilles after World War Two.

Recorded mintage: 200,000 (60,000 melted per the SCWC[1]).

Specification: 25 g, 0.720 fine silver, .580 troy oz ASW, 38 mm diameter, edge lettered "GOD*ZIJ*MET*ONS*".

Catalog reference: KM 46, Sch-1330.
